ITEMIZED BREAK DOWN OF ARTICLE

1. The survey appears to be improperly conducted, as it sampled only 100 citizens out of a population of 2,030. This small and potentially non-representative sample raises concerns about cherry-picking and bias, making the findings unreliable and not reflective of the broader population.

2. Start of (SOFT HIT PIECE) regarding recently installed fence.

3. End of (SOFT HIT PIECE) regarding recently installed fence.

4. So quick to publish (SOFT HIT PIECE) misspelled the general contractors name by calling them ACME Builders like it’s a cartoon contractor company. The Correct spelling is Ankeny Builders.

5. Emotional use of words in (SOFT HIT PIECE) like: Annoy, Create emotional distress, Psychological distress, and Cause irritation. (Good fences make good neighbors)

6. Omitting facts in (SOFT HIT PIECE) article such as: Leaving out several unauthorized trespassing events by City Officials, Contractors working on the community center, Construction debris that was not contained on the work site blowing onto property which has been cleaned up 6 times, This article ignores the claims documented and ongoing issues that led to the fence being installed in the first place.

7. Fallow up with (SOFT HIT PIECE) To cleanse themselves of being the aggressors - (“Our goal is to remain positive in public relations and help ensure that Tracy remains a thriving community,”) “It’s easy to talk about public relations and a ‘thriving community’ while private property owners are being victimized and harassed in the process.” (City of Tracy - Do as we say and not as we do……..)

RESPONSE TO: Residents hope for cooperation on community center

The recent comments made during the Tracy City Council meeting present an incomplete and misleading narrative regarding the fence installed on the west side of the Community Center property.

Missing from the discussion are the repeated incidents that led to private property owners George and David taking measures to protect their property rights. For months, there have been ongoing issues involving repeated trespassing by city officials, construction workers, and individuals associated with the Tracy Community Center project entering private property without authorization.

In addition, construction debris from the Community Center project has repeatedly blown onto adjacent private property, requiring continued cleanup by the property owners. Despite multiple concerns being raised, these issues have not been adequately addressed.

A certified trespass complaint was also submitted to Tracy Police Chief Jason Lichty, yet no meaningful response or enforcement action followed. The lack of response left the property owners with little confidence that their concerns were being taken seriously.

The characterization of the fence as a “spite fence” ignores the broader context. The fence was not installed to harass the City or the public. It was installed after repeated boundary violations, trespassing incidents, and ongoing disregard for private property rights. Property owners have the legal right to secure and protect their land when repeated intrusions occur.

It is disappointing to see the City of Tracy and affiliated groups portray themselves as victims while failing to acknowledge the repeated actions that created this situation in the first place. Cooperation requires mutual respect, accountability, and recognition of private property rights — not selective public narratives that omit key facts.

The public deserves the full story, not just one side of it.
